About Course

This course, “Understanding Tajweed,” aims to provide adult learners with a comprehensive understanding of the rules and principles of Tajweed, the art of reciting the Quran melodically and correctly. Tajweed is a fundamental aspect of Quranic recitation and plays a pivotal role in maintaining the sanctity and beauty of the Sacred Text.

Learners will explore the pronunciation, articulation, and phonetic characteristics essential to proper recitation. This course will not only focus on the theoretical framework of Tajweed but will also emphasize practical application through guided practice sessions and recitation exercises.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the rules and principles of Tajweed.
2. Apply Tajweed rules in Quran recitation accurately.
3. Recognize the importance of Tajweed in maintaining the integrity of Quranic pronouncement.
4. Develop the ability to teach Tajweed to others, if desired.
Course Aims
• To introduce learners to the historical context and evolution of Tajweed.
• To provide detailed instruction on each aspect of Tajweed, including articulation points (Makharij) and qualities of letters (Sifaat).
• To engage learners in practical recitation exercises to enhance their skills.
• To cultivate a deeper appreciation for the Quran through its melodic recitation.
